ABOUT LATOYA

LATOYA STROMAN, OWNER & FOUNDER

As a natural born leader, LaToya Stroman is a true testament to having dreams and employing the determination and drive necessary to attain them.  With childhood aspirations of becoming a businesswoman, she demonstrated leadership in her very early years, and in high school had the opportunity to explore those interests living in Novgorod, Russia.

She attended the School of Communications at Temple University, in Philadelphia, PA, with concentrations in Broadcasting, Telecommunication, and Mass Media.  At Temple, Stroman was afforded international opportunities, both academically and professionally, that catapulted her closer to realizing her dreams.  Her outstanding accomplishments propelled her to be 2012 commencement speaker at Temple University’s main stage graduation.

Temple University Commencement Speaker

Selected to deliver main stage commencement keynote address at Temple University’s 2012 graduation ceremony.

Growing up in North Philadelphia, Stroman relied heavily on her mother’s counsel, thus avoiding the perils faced by many of her peers.  She credits her mother as being one of her greatest influences and teachers. Recognizing the impact of motherly nurture and the importance of guiding conversations, Stroman realized that there were many girls who were not afforded the same luxury.

Seeing this disparity with Philadelphia inner-city youth, she was moved to affect change and founded Girl Talk Philly, a platform for girls to foster new, healthy relationships, share their challenges, and involve themselves within their respective communities. She also co-founded with two other women, beGirl.world, empowering teen girls to “think beyond their neighborhood, dream bigger than their city limits, and create endless possibilities outside of their country borders.”
